CUPID'S DAY: SHADES OF LOVE (MINI POST)

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays because it's a day to celebrate all forms of love (true love, friend love, puppy love, etc, etc.) Yes, we should all love one another every day as much as we do on Valentine's day but there's something sweet (no pun intended) about a whole day focused on your heart connecting with another heart.

"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.” -Pablo Neruda

HEATWAVE

Walked around the historic Greystone Mansion on one of the hottest days in Los Angeles. Quite taken back by the sheerness of the gardens but also the loneliness of the place. Spent the rest of the day lounging by the pool, what a day.

SWINGIN' BOTANICAL

If you haven't seen Tory Burch's latest line of botanical adorned clothing, you must! I fell in love with pretty much every piece but this dress was the one that really spoke to me. It's a different cut that I'm used to with a prim neckline, criss cross back and flattering thin belt at the waist. In its entirety, it's a throwback to the dolls of 1960's and if anyone knows me, I love vintage inspired clothing. The day I wore this was a sweltering one, nearing the 90's here in Southern CA but even the dead heat couldn't stop me from skipping along in this fun dress.

Tory Burch Emilia Dress and BCBG Maxazria hemp wedges.

The design reminds me of floral anatomical illustrations and seed packets.

Switched out my BCBG Maxazria wedges for a pair of Tory Burch nude sandals. Purse: Saint Laurent Classic Y purse

WINTER PASTELS

Even though, it's winter and things are quite dreary out, I find myself attracted to the pastel trend. I noticed this Zara coat online but couldn't bring myself to buy it, despite the easy returns and shipping offers. Then I passed by it one day while shopping and couldn't get it out of my head, so much so that I was determined to go down the next day and purchased it. Zara is a great place for several reasons but for me, one of the best reasons is because I can purchase stylish coats at a lesser, gentler price similar to one one would find at Neimans. With my early Christmas gift (the blush and gold combination is to die for) and my fancy new coat, I headed out to a special holiday party with two of my favorite friends, bringing tidings of joy and a few prezzies!

MINI OUTFIT POST: INSTAGRAM PHOTOS

I've been quite naughty about updating my blog with outfits of the day and I apologize! When I'm popping out for just a few hours, I find it's easier to take a photo of my outfit for Instagram. Below are a compilation of the most recent outfits.

Equipment Sloane Crew neck Sweater, Alice+Olivia suede leggings, Celine Trio purse, Tom Ford Nikita sunnies and Charlotte Olympia Bite Me Kitty Vampire flats.

This Zara faux leather moto jacket is probably one of the most smartest buys I've done this year. The weight and feel is wonderful and identical to real leather. Plus the price isn't too steep; I don't see the point in spending $$$$ for a trendy piece.

Zara faux leather motorcycle jacket, Equipment blouse with sequined birds,  Rag & Bone/Jeans, Christian Louboutin Jimmynetta suede boots in Bronze, Celine Trio purse,  Tom Ford Nikita sunnies.

Speaking of smart buys, I'm in love with this Tibi lace midi skirt. I have found my length in terms of skirts and I'm amassing a small collection of them.

A WOLF ON THE EAST COAST

For the past few years, my mom and I have gone to New York and we plan our trip around plays,  museum exhibits and the occasional shopping. This year, we decided to see "Kinky Boots" and "Motown." Both I'd recommend but "Kinky Boots" was the star! Wild, infectious and glitterific. A must see for anyone who wants to dance, laugh and feel empowered! "Motown" had a great story and music. It definitely has that "musical" feel with animated acting and fast pace energy. We also ventured through Central Park and the Met. museum. The normal exhibits and statues are always beautiful to see but I was quite taken by their "Found" photograph exhibit.
After New York, we visited Boston. I really wanted to see Salem so we spent one day there and the rest wandering around Charles Street, Newbury Street and the Boston Fine Arts Museum. I have to say, if you're a witches buff like me, Salem is a place to see. The history is both disturbing and interesting. If you go, visit the Witch Museum and Witch memorial for those who perished in the trials. It is somber and eye-opening. During the month of October, everyone who works there is required to dress up. It feels like Halloween every day, dare I say Halloweentown? We capped off our Boston trip with Dita Von Teese's "Strip Strip Hooray!" show at the House of Blues. If "Kinky Boots" was the star, this show was the "moon!" The sets and costumes of Dita's are amazing and the in between acts bring a lot of action to the stage. I especially enjoyed the emcee, Murray Hill. I suggest anyone who's into a unique, sexy time to see her show. Below is a mash-up of my trip photos. Enjoy!
