WINTER PASTELS

Even though, it's winter and things are quite dreary out, I find myself attracted to the pastel trend. I noticed this Zara coat online but couldn't bring myself to buy it, despite the easy returns and shipping offers. Then I passed by it one day while shopping and couldn't get it out of my head, so much so that I was determined to go down the next day and purchased it. Zara is a great place for several reasons but for me, one of the best reasons is because I can purchase stylish coats at a lesser, gentler price similar to one one would find at Neimans. With my early Christmas gift (the blush and gold combination is to die for) and my fancy new coat, I headed out to a special holiday party with two of my favorite friends, bringing tidings of joy and a few prezzies!

WOLF & THE HOUND

Apologies for the lack of posting!  Below is one of my favorite JAX dresses I've found so far. It's a wool houndstooth which in my opinion is a stellar vintage, classy combination. I'm quite fond of the vintage look and I'm always finding ways to pair vintage with other fashion trends I'm into. I believe in never boxing yourself in one style.

THANKSGIVING: LACE & GOLD

We're pretty simple here around the holidays but that doesn't mean that I take a day off from wearing a fun outfit. Tibi has quite a knack for making stellar midi skirts and I'm in love with them all, including their black lace skirt. It goes with everything, especially more lace.

I discovered Rightful Owner from Instagram, her work is amazing and so feminine. Who wouldn't feel like royalty wearing one of her creations?  I can't wait to purchase another headband from her.

MINI POST: FUR BY NIGHT

The other night, I had a family dinner to attend. It seems Fall has finally come to stay in California and so have the rains. The constant light sprinkle outside gave me a chance to break out my Vince fur vest-it's unbelievably warm and cozy.

SLEEPING BEAUTY WITH A BITE

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to see Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty at the Ahmanson theater. It was so wonderfully dark-my favorite mix of beauty and creepy. Matthew Bourne re-imagined the classic tale of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty by injecting it with vampires. As he says in the program interview, the story already has fairies and magic? Why not vampires too?
Wanting to represent my support of all things supernatural, I chose pieces that remind of a gothic romance: burgundy for blood, lace for innocence and a Charlotte Olympia clutch for bite. Even my lips were damned eternally. The show leaves Dec. 1st so I suggest everyone to hurry and go see it.

NAVY AS TRIBUTE

Is everyone as excited as I am for the latest Hunger Games installment? My husband and I got up early for a matinee showing of Catching Fire, braving the freezing winds (well as freezing as the California coast can get.) Katniss may be a girl on fire but blue is the hottest of any flame.

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME…WOULD BE STELLA MCCARTNEY.

Who would've thought a suede legging in November would be a bad choice? Luckily, my top was airy enough to keep me cool. One of the purses that I have been in heavy rotation for this season has been my Stella McCartney falabella tote in a rosy hue. The shearling fabric is so cozy and the color brings cheer to Fall.

I've been enjoying Marilyn in Fashion by Christopher Nickens and George Zeno especially their segment on JAX slacks. Check it out! (Seen with a James Perse turtleneck sweater and Stella McCartney Falabella tote.)

MAD FOR TARTAN

The weather in California has been unusually warm this November therefore dress weather is still in effect. For a morning movie date with my husband to see the new Thor film, I decided to break out my newest Zara find: a tartan maxi lingerie-inspired maxi dress with a high slit. When I saw this on the website, I instantly grew mad…for tartan! The lace edges reminded me also, of a few Victoria Beckham slip-inspired dresses and I adore Vic. The dress has a low back and even the extra small is a tad big for me in the front so I had to pair it with a lacy bra from American Apparel. I don't normally like to have my bra show with a low back but I thought just this once, for the God of Thunder, it will be okay.
