HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HELLO KITTY!

I visited a childhood friend recently and it made me so happy to reminisce with her! Hello Kitty turned 40 this year, although technically she never ages! She's basically every one's favorite furry, feline vampire! This exhibit held in her honor at the Japanese American Natural Museum was a fabulous mix of old and new. The first level was a walk through Hello Kitty's beginning and all the wonderful things Sanrio created and the second level focused on art inspired by Hello Kitty. Literally, people painted her, sculptured her, made movies about her and drew her like "one of their french girls." It was a whimsical afternoon full of color and super Kawaii fun!  It was purr-fect!

COAT WEATHER (MINI-POST)

"Winter" has landed in LA! It's been quite nippy here--enough to break out the coats. I rarely get to wear any of my heavier outerwear and though I've done my fair share of shivering while braving our  "arctic" weather, I'm doing it in style. (Today's coat is a rather special one, it used to belong to my Nana.) Coat weather: oh what a fun time to be had!

TWISTIN' FRINGE: MINI POST

For a quiet family dinner out in Brentwood, I wore this amazing fringe camisole by Donna Karen NY. This camisole makes any pair of jeans into an instant party! Warning: This top may cause you to twist and shout uncontrollably. Grab a partner and have a ball.

COLORAMA-RAMA-RAMA-DING-DONG!

If you've been following me on Instagram lately, you might already know how excited I am with my Chanel "Colorama" bag! Aside from the fact that it's Chanel and most, if not all Chanel bags, are somewhat stunning, there were two reasons why I was drawn to this particular bag: 1. that it's colorful and 2. that it's an homage to art or in my opinion, water coloring. Needless to say, my next few outfits were designed be canvases to show off my new "work of art."

SWEET CHANEL O' MINE: MINI POST

70 degrees? I'll take it. I decided to wear one of my favorite finds from a consignment shop in NYC: a Chanel mini dress made in a delightful light cashmere. Imagine my surprise, finding it wedged between two terrible dresses from the 1980's. I just had to save it from obscurity. It goes without saying that when you wear this dress, you feel equal parts lady-like and equal parts living cupcake. Later, I topped it off with my Zara moto jacket when the weather changed.

A WOLF ON THE EAST COAST

For the past few years, my mom and I have gone to New York and we plan our trip around plays,  museum exhibits and the occasional shopping. This year, we decided to see "Kinky Boots" and "Motown." Both I'd recommend but "Kinky Boots" was the star! Wild, infectious and glitterific. A must see for anyone who wants to dance, laugh and feel empowered! "Motown" had a great story and music. It definitely has that "musical" feel with animated acting and fast pace energy. We also ventured through Central Park and the Met. museum. The normal exhibits and statues are always beautiful to see but I was quite taken by their "Found" photograph exhibit.
After New York, we visited Boston. I really wanted to see Salem so we spent one day there and the rest wandering around Charles Street, Newbury Street and the Boston Fine Arts Museum. I have to say, if you're a witches buff like me, Salem is a place to see. The history is both disturbing and interesting. If you go, visit the Witch Museum and Witch memorial for those who perished in the trials. It is somber and eye-opening. During the month of October, everyone who works there is required to dress up. It feels like Halloween every day, dare I say Halloweentown? We capped off our Boston trip with Dita Von Teese's "Strip Strip Hooray!" show at the House of Blues. If "Kinky Boots" was the star, this show was the "moon!" The sets and costumes of Dita's are amazing and the in between acts bring a lot of action to the stage. I especially enjoyed the emcee, Murray Hill. I suggest anyone who's into a unique, sexy time to see her show. Below is a mash-up of my trip photos. Enjoy!

I came across J.Crew on Madison Avenue and fell in love with this dress in the window. I just knew I had to try it on. It instantly brought a smile to my face when I put it on.
