LV SERIES 2 + JAX

Following my lovely visit to Hello Kitty, I ventured over to the Louis Vuitton exhibit on Highland. It was a scorching hot day in town, I'm talking "sweating before you even walk" hot. The minute I stepped through the doors, I was greeted by the neon glow of the famous LV,  and somehow, in the glow of it all, I was transported into a world of "coolness." The show balanced history, today and the future all in one space. I have to say, not only was the art wonderful to gaze at (you'd be amazed at how much time and detail goes into every single thing) but the crowds were inspiring as well. Maybe it was the fashionable names that came attached with this exhibit but everyone was dressed to the nines; flashing their sense of style as quick as the pulsating videos in the show. There was even a class field trip going on! I mean, how cool is that? Probably the thing that topped the whole day was seeing a fuzzy face poking out of a cobalt blue Hermes Birkin. That alone made me want to hurry home to go see my own furry baby.

DENIM ON MY MIND: LOVIN' ALEXA CHUNG X AG JEANS (MINI POST)

I've been a fan of Alexa Chung for a while now. Her style is so chic and for the lack of a better word, cool. I especially love the way she adds a sense of retro-flair to anything she wears (i.e. cat eye) and the way she pairs things together (it is beyond!) When I heard that AG Jeans was collaborating with Alexa Chung, I anxiously awaited its arrival. It came as no surprise to me that when it first landed, it sold out quickly on every site. Even with everything selling out quickly, I weighed my opinions carefully, debating on which piece I would purchase. I'm new to denim (beyond the realm of jeans and shorts) and though I respect and admire Alexa Chung's style, I knew I couldn't pull of every "denim" piece she created. For the somewhat pricey price tag, I wanted to be smart and get something that would last a long time in my closet.
The first dress below was a little bit beyond my normal style choices and I think what grabbed my attention was the nod to the 60's and the utterly sweetness it possesses with its babydoll form and skinny bow. When I saw Alexa wearing it with a fuzzy leopard coat, I knew that this dress could be versatile. It could be boho, it could be retro, it could be fashionable, it could be western...etc, etc.
The second dress was easy and an easy introduction to denim dresses! I've been eye off the shoulder dresses, especially those with some sort of ruffles. This dress is so easy to wear and perfect for a breezy, summer day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HELLO KITTY!

I visited a childhood friend recently and it made me so happy to reminisce with her! Hello Kitty turned 40 this year, although technically she never ages! She's basically every one's favorite furry, feline vampire! This exhibit held in her honor at the Japanese American Natural Museum was a fabulous mix of old and new. The first level was a walk through Hello Kitty's beginning and all the wonderful things Sanrio created and the second level focused on art inspired by Hello Kitty. Literally, people painted her, sculptured her, made movies about her and drew her like "one of their french girls." It was a whimsical afternoon full of color and super Kawaii fun!  It was purr-fect!

CUPID'S DAY: SHADES OF LOVE (MINI POST)

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays because it's a day to celebrate all forms of love (true love, friend love, puppy love, etc, etc.) Yes, we should all love one another every day as much as we do on Valentine's day but there's something sweet (no pun intended) about a whole day focused on your heart connecting with another heart.

"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.” -Pablo Neruda
