HOPPING INTO SPRING!

I'm not a religious person but I love celebrating holidays, mainly because I get to dress up and be with my loved ones. This Easter, I decided to go monochromatic with a twist, adding my gingham bunny ears for extra celebration. As the day came to a close and we watched the tangerine sun dip beneath the horizon, I made a mental note: "I have to wear animal ears more often."

MINI POST: FUR BY NIGHT

The other night, I had a family dinner to attend. It seems Fall has finally come to stay in California and so have the rains. The constant light sprinkle outside gave me a chance to break out my Vince fur vest-it's unbelievably warm and cozy.

SLEEPING BEAUTY WITH A BITE

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to see Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty at the Ahmanson theater. It was so wonderfully dark-my favorite mix of beauty and creepy. Matthew Bourne re-imagined the classic tale of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty by injecting it with vampires. As he says in the program interview, the story already has fairies and magic? Why not vampires too?
Wanting to represent my support of all things supernatural, I chose pieces that remind of a gothic romance: burgundy for blood, lace for innocence and a Charlotte Olympia clutch for bite. Even my lips were damned eternally. The show leaves Dec. 1st so I suggest everyone to hurry and go see it.

NAVY AS TRIBUTE

Is everyone as excited as I am for the latest Hunger Games installment? My husband and I got up early for a matinee showing of Catching Fire, braving the freezing winds (well as freezing as the California coast can get.) Katniss may be a girl on fire but blue is the hottest of any flame.

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME…WOULD BE STELLA MCCARTNEY.

Who would've thought a suede legging in November would be a bad choice? Luckily, my top was airy enough to keep me cool. One of the purses that I have been in heavy rotation for this season has been my Stella McCartney falabella tote in a rosy hue. The shearling fabric is so cozy and the color brings cheer to Fall.

I've been enjoying Marilyn in Fashion by Christopher Nickens and George Zeno especially their segment on JAX slacks. Check it out! (Seen with a James Perse turtleneck sweater and Stella McCartney Falabella tote.)

A WOLF ON THE EAST COAST

For the past few years, my mom and I have gone to New York and we plan our trip around plays,  museum exhibits and the occasional shopping. This year, we decided to see "Kinky Boots" and "Motown." Both I'd recommend but "Kinky Boots" was the star! Wild, infectious and glitterific. A must see for anyone who wants to dance, laugh and feel empowered! "Motown" had a great story and music. It definitely has that "musical" feel with animated acting and fast pace energy. We also ventured through Central Park and the Met. museum. The normal exhibits and statues are always beautiful to see but I was quite taken by their "Found" photograph exhibit.
After New York, we visited Boston. I really wanted to see Salem so we spent one day there and the rest wandering around Charles Street, Newbury Street and the Boston Fine Arts Museum. I have to say, if you're a witches buff like me, Salem is a place to see. The history is both disturbing and interesting. If you go, visit the Witch Museum and Witch memorial for those who perished in the trials. It is somber and eye-opening. During the month of October, everyone who works there is required to dress up. It feels like Halloween every day, dare I say Halloweentown? We capped off our Boston trip with Dita Von Teese's "Strip Strip Hooray!" show at the House of Blues. If "Kinky Boots" was the star, this show was the "moon!" The sets and costumes of Dita's are amazing and the in between acts bring a lot of action to the stage. I especially enjoyed the emcee, Murray Hill. I suggest anyone who's into a unique, sexy time to see her show. Below is a mash-up of my trip photos. Enjoy!

I came across J.Crew on Madison Avenue and fell in love with this dress in the window. I just knew I had to try it on. It instantly brought a smile to my face when I put it on.
